I'm afraid my photo of the pub itself came out very blury. Anyway, the story about the sheep goes that there once was a big fence around the village to keep the sheep out. Then, during World War II, it was dismantled to "turn into spitfires" or whatever. After the war the landowner was compensated with enough money to build a new fence, but naturally never did. As such sheep now roam freely around Wanlockhead. Day 9 of the Southern Upland Way blogged about at ramblingman.org.uk/southernuplandway/day9 |
