Description

Seen here is a Fiery Skipper Butterfly feeding with the "red guy," also called a Snowberry Clearwing (hummingbird) Moth. Marty calls these guys "flying shrimp." flickr.com/photos/martytdx/197907873/ Both enjoyed the bounty of the thistle patch which has now gone to seed and crumbled away.

The hummingbird moths are mistaken for hummingbirds because they can hover just like hummingbirds. These moths are bumble bee mimics due to their black and yellow colors and can give quite a scare if they fly up on you suddenly. flickr.com/photos/drphotomoto/2643807951/
