Description
English: Shafer trail, The official name for this dirt road is San Juan County Route 142 it ascends/descends from Canyonlands National Park, intersecting the White Rim Trail and arriving to the Potash boat ramp at the Colorado river. Moab. Utah. USA.
(Note, High Resolution, expandible photo) The Shafer Trail descends in the distance onto the platform of the en:White Rim Sandstone. The entire upper units up to the Wingate cliffs are visible. The Shafer Trail is coming out of the upmost Chinle F. membet (3 subunits only in Canyonlands) and the trail exits left at base of Wingate. (In distance above the Rim-(right), is Navajo Sandstone.)
From the White Rim Ss, below as Shafer Trail leaves, to the Wingate Sandstone, as trail comes out at right-to-left, are 7-geologic sub-units, and Black Box Dolomite-(visible?):
3-(Chinle)-Church Rock Member
2-(Chinle)-Moss Back Conglomerate
1-(Chinle)-Temple Mountain Member
4 & 3-(Moenkopi)-Moody Canyon Member and Torrey Member
2-(Moenkopi)-Sinbad Limestone
1-(Moenkopi)-Black Dragon Member
