Description
English: Nine Salishan basketmakers (7 women, 2 men) ca. 1890-1895. The group is seated on a woven mat, with a variety of baskets displayed in front and beside them. Several also hold baskets, including a half-finished one. Some wood carvings (possible Tlingit) including a totem, are also displayed. The group all have blankets around their shoulders, the women wear kerchiefs and the older man in front has a woven hat. They are posed in front of a painted backdrop of an arbor .
