Description "The big press", one of a group of three photos from brochure Seattle and the Orient (1900) collectively captioned "Where the Daily Times is made." This is part of a long section on The Seattle Daily Times, publisher of the brochure/booklet. The newspaper is now known simply as the Seattle Times.

p. 182 of Seattle and the Orient (more properly, Seattle …and the… Orient), a 1900 "souvenir" pamphlet edited and compiled by Alfred D. Bowen and published by The Times Printing Company (that is, the Seattle Times).

Scanned at 300 dpi; images cleaned up using Picture Publisher's "remove pattern" feature.

Image:Seattle Daily Times - making stereotypes - 1900.jpg, Image:Seattle Daily Times - mailing room - 1900.jpg, and Image:Seattle Daily Times - big press - 1900.jpg are the respective photos. The layout on the original page left these photos slightly overlapped, so that there are intrusions into the top and middle photos. Those areas have been blurred out in those photos rather than attempt any more elaborate retouching.
