Deutsch: Unteres Schlosstor, Hohen Tübingen. 1606 gebaut mit Steinquadern aus versteinertem Kalktuff, vermutlich aus einem Steinbruch von Gönningen oder Honau, beide am Albtrauf.
Diese Sedimentgesteine sind extrem hart und witterungsbeständig - auch nach 400 Jahren ohne wesentliche Alterserscheinungen. Die Sandsteine um den Torbogen müssen dagegen ausgetauscht werden. English: Unteres Schlosstor, Hohen Tübingen (lower castlegate), built 1606. Wall of the section to the right with its porous, tough, weatherproof Travertine rock (equiv. „Calcereous Tuff") is original. After its Holocene deposition, the calcereous tuff sediment underwent a diagenesis. Petrified, it became a popular building material, cropped from regional quarries in the karst of the Albtrauf. |
