Summary[edit]

Description
English: Stone found in the ruins of a chapel in Kingston Upon Thames in the eighteenth century, which has since then been regarded as the Coronation Stone of the Saxon Kings of England. It was at first used as a mounting block, but in 1850 it was moved to the market place and put on a plinth with the names of seven kings crowned in Kingston. This photograph shows the name of Athelstan.
