English: An embroidered sampler with a scene of two mountains with rivers flowing from them. A figure in chains and a simple loin cloth kneels between them, with his hands raised in prayer. Above, a verse is flanked by two medallions supported by angels. With a floral border on three sides. The verse reads: The Converted Indian's Prayer In de dark wood no indian nigh Den me look heaven and send up cry Upon my knee so low Dat god so high in shiny place See me nigh with teary face My priest do tell me so He send his angels take me care He come his self and hear my prayer If indian heare do pray Within the medallions: The angels of the lord bless ye the lord praise him and magnify him for ever and The angel of the lord cried loud saying prepare to meet thy god
