Description
Italiano: Olio su tela di Salvatore Fergola (1799-1874), alto palmi 5½ largo 8 (145 x 211 cm), firmato e datato nell’angolo in basso a sinistra S. Fergola 1850.
Il quadro, esposto in mostra nel R. Museo Borbonico il 1° ottobre 1851, raffigura un paesaggio di composizione con Ettore Fieramosca e Giovanni Brancaleone che portano al campo dei Francesi, attendati sulla riva opposta dell’Ofanto, la celebre disfida che dalle due parti fu poi sostenuta con tanta sua gloria da tredici eletti guerrieri (cfr. Francesco Paolo Bozzelli (1852). Pubblica mostra degli oggetti di Belle arti nell’autunno del 1851. Cenni estetici. Napoli, Stab. Tip. Gaetano Nobili, p. 117).
