English: Salangsverket ("Salangen Works") is a village and industrial site in Salangen municipality in Troms county, Norway. The Salangsverket or Salangen Bergverkaktieselskap was an industrial iron ore mining company 1907–1912. The ore was mined at Storhaugen, then processed at and shipped from Salangsverket at Langneset by the Sagfjorden fiord (jernbrikettstøperi, utskipningshavn etc). The ruins of the old industry facility are today a cultural heritage monument and open air museum with a cultural trail, as part of the Sør-Troms Museum. The remaining huge, reinforced concrete constructions are partly taken over by the surrounding nature. Photo taken on May 7th, 2019. |
