Description
English: Details of Saga Oseberg, a 2012 Norwegian built replica of the Oseberg viking ship, a small longship (karve) from around 820 made of oak and pine and with clinker-built hull (in Norwegian: et langskip av eik og furu med klinkbygd skrog):
  • Wooden deck of timber planks (skipsdekk av trebord)
  • Gunwale (reling, rekke) with oar holes (årehull)
  • Shrouds with shroud-pins/vantnales to secure the ropes to the hull (Vanter med vantnåler for å feste og stramme vantene, støttetaua fra masta til båtsida/skroget)
  • Ropes (tauverk)
  • Boat knee timbers (vinkelbøyde bjelkeknær som holder skrogsidene og dekket sammen)
