Description
English: Details of Saga Oseberg, a 2012 Norwegian built replica of the Oseberg viking ship, a small longship (karve) from around 820 made of oak and pine and with clinker-built hull (in Norwegian: et langskip av eik og furu med klinkbygd skrog):
  • Wooden deck of timber planks (skipsdekk av trebord)
  • Mast and wooden timber "mast fish" (mastefisk, forsterkning av dekket rundt hullet for masta)
  • Square rigged sail wrapped in canvas tarp onto the yard (skværseil, firkanta råseil, i presenning på råa, den vannrette bommen/stanga på tvers av masta)
  • Gunwale (reling, rekke) with oar holes (årehull)
  • Shrouds with shroud-pins or vantnales to secure the ropes to the hull (Vanter med vantnåler for å feste og stramme støttetaua fra masta til båtsida/skroget)
  • Oars (årer)
  • Ropes (tauverk)
  • Boat knee timbers (vinkelbøyd bjelkekne som holder skrogsidene og dekket sammen)
  • View towards stern aft (bakskut mot akterstevnen/bakstavnen)
