Title
SWYOR-8AF359 Post Medieval Button Cover
Description
English: An incomplete Post Medieval domed button cover made of white metal, probably dating from AD 1750 - 1900. The circular button front has eight recessed oval petals around the plain circular centre, and short circumferential incised lines in the spaces between them. It is 13.8mm in diameter with a height of 5.3mm, 1.2mm thick and and weighs 1.98g. The patina is dark grey, almost black, and shiny. The reverse is hollow and has a rough white surface, perhaps a white metal filling for weight, or the solder to join the button front to the backplate.
