Summary[edit]

Description
English: Misc. American CIA and British Secret Intelligence Service (MI6) communication etc. equipment (telegraph keys, etc.) for use by NATO 'spies' and clandestine paramilitary stay-behind groups in Norway during the cold war, left behind at Torås fort, probably in the 1980s.
Photo taken at a military history museum in a bunker tunnel at Torås Fort, a former coastal fortress on the island of Tjøme, Norway. The fortress was established by the Norwegians in 1939, but completed by German military forces as part of the Festung Norwegen and Atlantic Wall during Nazi Germany's occupation of Norway in the Second World War. After the war the coastal artillery at Torås was part of the Norwegian Armed Forces and NATO. During the Cold War the facilitiy was used as an educational center for secret stay-behind agents partly funded by the CIA. In 1999, the fortress closed down.
