DescriptionSPAWAR supports SeaPerch San Diego STEM event 130427-N-UN340-010.jpg |
English: Lt. Cmdr. Brian Alvara, left, assigned to Navy Recruiting District San Diego and Aviation Ordnanceman 2nd Class Nicholas Clark, assigned to Navy Recruiting Station Santee pictured with a team of Naval Sea Cadets and their SeaPerch Remotely Operated Vehicle (ROV) at the San Diego Regional SeaPerch Competition at Grossmont College. SeaPerch, sponsored by the Office of Naval Research (ONR), is an innovative underwater robotics program that trains teachers to teach their late elementary through high school students how to build ROVs from low-cost kits. Navy volunteers from several Navy Region Southwest commands assisted in the competition as judges, timekeepers and in-water assistants at the event. (U.S. Navy photo by Rick Naystatt /Released) |
