THE SHALLOW AND MARSHY HABITAT OF THE PLATTE RIVER IS WHAT ATTRACTS THESE BIRDS. THE AREA IS THREATENED BY A U.S. CORPS OF ENGINEER PROJECT THAT WOULD DAM AND DREDGE THE RIVER
