Summary[edit]

Description
English: Pictured are soldiers from the Royal Scots Dragoon Guards (SCOTS DG) taking part in urban training at their home in Leuchars Station (RAF Leuchars), Fife, but with a new twist - it involved paintball...

Actually, a little more sophisticated than Paintball, the soldiers took advantage of system where they could use their standard SA80 service weapons (with little or no modification) but fire Non-lethal paint based ‘marker’ rounds to see how accurate their shooting was.

Using these Simunitions (simulated munitions) provides an innovative way to use existing kit and allows participants to gain a better training experience.

Simunitions are special cartridges that fire coloured paint-filled plastic projectiles which are used to mark targets much like paintballs.

Simunitions are designed to cycle the actions in specially modified small arms weapons.

The paint-filled projectiles are much more accurate than paintballs, and it is safe to be shot by them when wearing protective clothing. Simunitions are used by various military forces for realistic training.
