Title
English: Rural one-room school, ca. 1885
Description
English: Many of the Seattle area's earliest schools were one-room schools, either in someone's home or in a building of their own. The one-room school in this early photo was once identified as Van Asselt or Maple School. Both of these names were used for one school and, later, for two separate schools. The building shown in the photo doesn't match any known images or descriptions of these particular schools.

In this photo, taken sometime during the 1880s, a group of students and their teachers stand outside an unidentified wood frame school building somewhere near Seattle.
