Title
English: Ruins of Yesler-Leary building, 1889
Description
English: After the Great Fire of 1889, there was very little left of the Yesler-Leary Building. The city paid the owners a high price for the corner, and cut through it to make a better connection for First Avenue as it crossed Mill Street (Yesler Way).

This photo was taken shortly after the fire at the corner of Mill Street (Yesler Way), looking north along First Avenue. The ruins of the Yesler-Leary Building stand on the corner, with the side wall of the Post Building beyond them (far left). Workmen and a militia guard stand near the old entrance to the burned-out building.
