Français : Rue Henderson, Québec, 1941
« Vers 1842, la rue Henderson est ouverte pour relier la rue Saint-Paul et le quai Orléans, en bordure de la rivière Saint-Charles, là où se trouvera l’usine de gaz produisant le méthane nécessaire à l’éclairage des rues de la ville à partir de 1849. À cet endroit se trouvent aujourd’hui la gare du Palais et l’ancien Hôtel des Postes. Cette rue était située à proximité de la gare de la «Montmorency Falls and Ste-Anne de Beaupré» et, à partir de 1915, de la nouvelle gare Union (aujourd’hui la gare du Palais). Il n’est donc pas étonnant de constater qu’on y trouvait, à l’instar de la rue Saint- Paul voisine, plusieurs hôtels et maisons de chambres. Ce cliché de 1941 a été pris depuis l’Hôtel des Postes en direction sud. On y aperçoit l’amorce de la rue Lacroix (aujourd’hui la rue des Vaisseaux-du-Roi) et, à la haute-ville, l’ancien pavillon d’Aiguillon de l’Hôtel-Dieu. Cette réalisation de l’architecte Georges-Émile Tanguay cédera sa place, en 1955, à une tour de 14 étages. La rue Henderson a été fermée en 1986. » – Jean-François Caron, Société historique de Québec
