Notes The motif of satyrs chasing nymphs was often taken up by Rubens, his pupils and followers alike. The erotic undertones of these representations were highly popular among lovers. This drawing was probably made after an original work (ricordo) that has not survived to the present day. This fact was known by a collector who once owned it and placed an inscription nach Rubens (after Rubens) in the upper right corner.
