Description

English: A map of Korea drawn by d'Anville from the Jesuit copies of the Qing maps made under their supervision, in the case of Korea through the official embassy by the Manchu lord Mukedeng, which used maps prepared by the Koreans whose prime minister intentionally chose a moderately detailed chart with many errors rather than provide them with the exact maps kept by Korea's border defense bureau. C. Condet ("C. Kondet") engraved it at some point before his death in 1725 and his son G. Condet ("G. Kondet") later engraved the map's cartouche prior to its publication in the 1737 New Atlas of China, Chinese Tartary, and Tibet. The Korean map was placed with the maps of Chinese Tartary, but treated separately and left out of their numbering. The 1735 edition was separately engraved by Delahaye second but published first.
