English: As seen in July 2021, this notice in front of the cordoned-off counter of the Roy Rogers restaurant at the New York State Thruway's Junius Ponds Service Area alerts would-be diners that "this food concept is permanently closed in anticipation of the Thruway Service Area Modernization Project beginning on July 29th". In a two-stage process scheduled to last until 2025, staggered groups of the Thruway's 27 service areas will close to the public, during which time 23 of the three-decade-old buildings will be demolished and rebuilt (the remaining four will be gutted and thoroughly renovated) to accommodate updated amenities such as new restaurants, exterior seating, picnic and play areas for families with children, EV charging stations, comfort centers for pets, and improved services for commercial traffic such as increased truck parking, showers, laundry facilities, and fitness centers.
