| Description |
English: A 1962 Routemaster bus, RMC1490 (reg. 490 CLT), pictured in Shrewsbury bus station, preserved in ex-London Buses Ltd route X15 'Beckton Express' guise. RMC1490 was one of the Routemaster coach batch (with closeable rear doors) delivered to London Transport, painted green to work for the Green Line express network. In 1970 it passed to the fleet of London Country Bus Services, and repainted into their lighter shade of green. In 1979 it was bought back by London Transport, and repainted red for use as a training bus. From 1989 it was one of several RMC's modified for use on the new X15 express route, intended to serve commuters in the new Docklands areas. For this role it was given a gold lining to its red livery. In 1994 it was privatised to Stagecoach Selkent, and later sold for private preservation. In preservation it has also been repainted blue and yellow in 2000 for use by Metrobus (South East England). |
