It isalso fed by the snows in a recess lying under the westernsummit (25,780 feet). This basin is apparently separatedby a relatively low crest from that of a large glacier which,issuing from between Kangchenjunga and Jannu, joins itsterminal moraines to those of the Kangchen Glacier manymiles lower down the valley. This flat-topped crest con-nects with the western face of Kangchenjunga two terrificpeaks. I use the adjective advisedly. Thin, keen wedges,black or grey below, flinging down the sunshine from theiricy crests, they tower at either end of a curtain of preci-pices which rises vertically above the dark waves of themain glacier. Set the Eiger on the top of the Wetterhornclifis and you will get some idea of the nearer summit.Their rocks appear to meet the
