Roman vessel base re-used as spindle whorl
Description
English: A Roman pottery base from a closed vessel probably of jar form of Much Hadham ware, oxidised of late 3rd-4th century date. This base has a circular hole drilled through its centre post firing and has been filed flat, it has therefore been re-used at a later date either by the Romans or Anglo-Saxons to make a weight or spindle whorl.
