Description
  • English: Statue of the “Diana of Versailles” type: the goddess thrusts forward, right hand laid on the horns of a hind, escorted by a hound. Marble, Roman copy after a Greek original of the 4th century BC attributed to Leochares.
  • Français : Statue d'Artémis en marbre, trouvée à Athènes. La statue appartient au type dit Artémis de Versailles. La déesse est représentée debout, avec un mouvement vers l'avant. Dans la main droite, elle tient les bois d'un cerf, sous lequel un chien est représenté. Les bras sont faits de pièces séparées. Le chiton était peint en rouge et jaune. Copie romaine d'un original du IVe s. a. C. attribué à Léocharès.
  • Italiano: Artemide cacciatrice del tipo della "Diana di Versailles", nel Museo archeologico nazionale di Atene. Sono ottimamente conservate e visibili tracce della colorazione gialla e rossa che, com'era comune all'epoca, ravvivava la statua. Copia di epoca romana di originale perduto di Leocare, che risaliva al sec. IV a.C.
