English: A bronze sestertius of Septimius Severus, from the figures decorating the margins of Moll's map of Northamptonshire, sold separately and as Map 25 in his Set of Fifty New and Correct Maps of England and Wales... The illustration is a reengraving of Figure 11 in Tabula I Nummi Romani from William Camden's Britannia, Vol. I, p. 98.

Obverse: ·L·SEPT·SEVERVS·PIVS·AVG·BRIT [Lucius Septimius Severus Pius Augustus Britannicus, Emperor Lucius Septimius Severus the Devout of British Fame]

Reverse: VICTORIAE BRITANNICAE [Of British Victory]

Camden's figure includes the exergue SC [Senatus Consultato, by Order of the Senate or with the Consultation of the Senate] on the reverse side. It is omitted by Moll.

Camden's note states "10, 11. In those of Severus and Geta, there is no difficulty."

Actual coin of the same issue, described as "Septimius Severus. AD 193-211. Æ Sestertius (32.5mm, 29.61 g, 12h). British Victory type. Rome mint. Struck AD 210. L SEPT SEVE RVS PIVS AVG, laureate head right / VICTORIAE BRITANNICAE, two Victories, both draped, standing vis-à-vis, holding between them a shield and placing it on palm tree in center; at base of palm tree flanking, two seated captives, both with hands bound behind back; S C in exergue. RIC IV 818; BMCRE 811 (same obv. die); Banti 167; SCBC 652. Dark brown-green patina with some red, some light smoothing. Good VF."
