Afrikaans: Reehert in fluweel. Hierdie foto is vroeg in die lente geneem toe hierdie hert besig was om sy gewei te laat groei. Tans is hulle bedek met vel (fluweel) wat binnekort sal afkom. Hy sal 'n eensame lewe lei tot die somer wanneer hy sal probeer om 'n paar ooie vir teling bymekaar te maak. Kyk hoe goed is hy in die heide gekamoefleer. Hy het ons dopgehou terwyl ons verbystap maar nie beweeg nie.
English: Roe deer buck in velvet This picture was taken in early spring and this roe deer buck is regrowing his antlers. At present they are covered with skin (velvet) which will soon come off. He will lead a solitary life until the summer when he will try to gather up some does for breeding. See how well camouflaged he is in the heather. He watched us as we walked past but didn't move. |
