| Description |
English: Rochester is England's second oldest Cathedral. The oldest is at Canterbury some 20 miles along the Kent coast from here. Rochester is really a grand Parish Church in comparison but it has had some interesting additions to the original Norman structure started in 1080 most notably a very grand Romanesque facade that gives it an almost fairytale appearance.
I didn't know what to expect when we set out to visit the Medway Towns but have to say I was more than pleasantly surprised. Not quite as successful as my Greenwich Observatory Stitch but a noble effort nonetheless. I took all 3 pictures that go to make this composite from the same place hence the angling away of the statues. Makes for an interesting image though, don't you think? |
