Description Riesenmammutbaum Sequoia, Sequoiadendron giganteum im Schönbuch, gepflanzt 1868 durch König Wilhelm I: Erst 1850 in der Kalifornischen Nevada entdeckt. Auf Veranlassung König Wilhelms I. in den Kalthäusern der Wilhelma ausgesät und 1868 als Topfpflanzen an die Württembergische Forstämter verteilt. Sturmfester Traufbaum, dauerhaftes Bau- und Mastenholz. In Amerika erreichen mehrtausendjährige Mammutbäume Höhen bis 120 Meter und Durchmesser über 15 Meter.
