| Description |
English: Abraded surface of the limestone at the Gundelsheim quarry, as seen from above. The parallel scratches point towards the center of the Ries crater (towards the top of the image). These scratches were caused when the ejected material ("Bunte Breccie") was moved at high speed across this surface. The Gundelsheim quarry is located approx. 7.5 kilometers east of the crater rim. Image is about 1 meter wide.
Deutsch: Schliff-Fläche auf einer Kalksteinbank im Steinbruch Gundelsheim, von oben gesehen. Die parallelen Kratzspuren weisen in Richtung des Zentrums des Rieskraters (im Bild oben). Diese Schleifspuren entstanden, als das Auswurfmaterial ("Bunte Breccie") mit hoher Geschwindigkeit über diese Fläche geschoben wurde. Der Steinbruch Gundelsheim liegt rund 7,5 Kilometer östlich des Kraterrandes. Bildbreite ca. 1 Meter. |
