Notes Adams double action, 5 shot percussion revolver Found on the site of Gate Pa, Tauranga, and supposed to have belonged to one of the officers killed when Gate Pa was captured by the British forces in 1864." Etched on barrel of the revolver is the name "Edwin Utterton Esqr. 23rd Royal Welsh Fusiliers". Captain Edwin Utterton came to New Zealand with the 43rd Regiment, as part of the 'Light Brigade', arriving in Auckland in January 1864. He served as a Captain in the 43rd Regiment taking part in the storming party at Gate Pa. He suffered a mortal wound to the neck and was one of the thirty British casualties killed at Gate Pa on 29 April 1864.
