Summary[edit]

Description

Built 1945 as '45-49295' for the USAAC. Continued in US service until 1952 when it was one of 150 Thunderbolts transfered to Yugoslavia under the Mutual Assistance Pact. Served with the Yugoslav Air Force as '13064'. The type was withdrawn from service in 1961. Recovered in 1985 by Warbirds of Great Britain, it was exchanged for Spitfire XVI 'TE356' in 1986 and moved to RAF Cardington. In 1994 it moved to Duxford and was restored by The Fighter Collection. On completion in mid-1995, it moved to Cosford and went on display, painted as 'KL216' of 30sqn. In 2003 it moved to Hendon and went on display in the Historic Main Hangars.
