Philippeville to vietv the Total Eelipse of the Sum 307 jaggedness is not to be attributed to errors of observation, e.g., the minorpeaks on the sides of the eclipse barometric hillock undoubtedlycorrespond to real subsidiary barometric fluctuations; that this is so is almostevident from the chart itself, for corresponding fluctuations are clearlytraceable, both in the direction and force of the wind and in the humiditycurve. The correspondence between the barometric and the humidity curvesis remarkable ; almost every small peak on the former has a simultaneousvariation—a rise and fall—or, more correctly, an increase and decrease in therate of rise, or a decrease and increase in the rate of fall—on the humiditycurve. The question may be asked—How much, if any, of the depression inwhich the eclipse hillock lies is due to
