Summary[edit]
DescriptionRenault Alpine A 362.jpg |
English: A Renault Alpine A362 from the Paul Ricard "Elf Renault racing driver's school", at the Autodrome de Linas-Montlhéry, 2009. These cars were especially built for this racing school, headed by Philippe Vidal. Inaugurated on 30 June 1971, the school featured ten cars powered by R12 Gordini engines which provided more longevity than the smaller race-tuned engines used by the F3 competition cars on which the A362 was based.
The courses were spread across six levels, in accordance with the familiarization with the track and the car, until use at full speed (6,500rpm = 215 km/h) was allowed after passing intermediate stages limited to 3,500, 4,500, and 5,500 rpm. The final race was to consist of five drivers, the winner of which became the Pilote Elf 72 and was allowed entry in the Formule Renault competition as a full professional driver. |
