His aunt, the Poets wife, told me that ofall the young men she had ever known hewas the most charming in manner, mind, andperson. He was beyond all his contemporariesan adept in Greek and Latin versification;whatever of noble thought, of touching senti-ment, of transient humour, gained access to hismind, came draped in one or other of theclassic tongues.
