Booth, inhis wild dash to escape, seeing that thelights were still on in the auditorium,must have tried to turn the gas offhimself and in his excitementwrenched the lever from its place, andit struck the wall in falling to thefloor. I still carry a scar on my neck aboutthree inches long as a reminder of myencounter with John Wilkes Booth.._ Withers, win.
