Summary[edit]

Description

This mural includes the original rudder and undercarriage of an Anson, and depicts an incident which occurred on 23rd August 1943. The aircraft, operated by No9 (Observer) Advanced Flying Unit, flew into a mountainside in cloud, but hit such a gentle slope that the aircraft stayed together, if not quite the right shape! The crew all survived and were rescued within seven hours of the crash. Some recovered Anson parts are on display as part of the mural depicting the event. Certainly, they are Anson parts, but there is nothing that indicates that they are actually from N5371 itself. Caernarfon Airworld Museum. Caernarfon Airport.
