Summary

[edit]
Description
English: Detail cropped out of a mid-18th century map showing the territories (in red) of the Free Imperial Cities of Wangen, Isny and Leutkirch in the Allgäu region, just north of Lake Constance. Isny was also the seat of St. George's Abbey, a self-ruling Benedictine imperial abbey ("O.B. AB" on the map) which was independent of the city. The two-headed eagles next to the three cities' name denote their status as free imperial cities.
Cropped out of map two of a multi-map series centered on the Circle of Swabia titled Per Inclyti Circuli Suevici Supremorum Ordinum, etc. published by Augsburg engraver, map and print publisher Johann Andreas Pfeffel in 1746.
