Italiano: The TNG on the evening of December 31, 2012. A particularly colorful sky closed the year while people in the control room were preparing for a night of observation with HARPS-N, the high resolution spectrograph used for the discovery and characterization of extrasolar planets. The TNG (Telescopio Nazionale Galileo) is a 3.58-meter Italian telescope, located at the "Roque de los Muchachos" Observatory on the island of La Palma in the Canary Islands, Spain. The TNG is operated by the "Fundación Galileo Galilei" on behalf of the Italian National Institute of Astrophysics (INAF). Image taken on December 31, 2012 at the Roque de Los Muchachos Observatory. |
