r 14, after a passage fromWhampoa of one hundred and five days. This was a particu-larly uneventful voyage for me. Everything went andworked smoothly. There were no quarrels, disputes, nor anything in particular to disturb the general routine of ship life,and I was glad of it, for I had seen quite enough of tragediesat sea. 1 I now fully realized the benefit of having a home to cometo after a long sea voyage, and determined to take advan-tage of it by having a good rest for a few weeks and enjoy-ing myself in my own way.
