The real time particulate matter sensor is mounted on a tripod and sits atop the air quality shelter.

This monitor makes continuous direct mass measurements of particulates that are 2.5 microns in size using a tapered element oscillating microbalance (TEOM). Park staff work with the Virginia Department of Environmental Quality to collect this data 24 hours a day.
