Summary[edit]

Description
English: Raymond Mérigot (23 January 1881 – 20 December 1910), Paris Foreign Missions Society missionary to Ta-li (future Diocese of Ta-li, at the time belonging to the Apostolic Vicariate of Yunnan). Born in Saint-Léger-en-Yvelines, admitted to Paris Foreign Missions Society Seminary in 1900, and ordained priest on 26 February 1905, he left on 2 August 1906 for Yunnan. That same year, he was put in charge of the District of Ta-tien-kai in Ta-li prefecture. In 1909, he bought land in the hamlet of Jouan-kia-tchang, near Tsing-in, to build a chapel, but the mandarin contested the seller's title deeds. However, he began the planned construction. To take revenge, the leaders of the region hatched a plot against him, and had him killed in Tsing-in on 20 December 1910.
