English: Heavily delayed Swindon - Penzance express ascending Rattery Bank. View eastwards, towards Totnes, Newton Abbot and the East on the infamous 27 July 1957 (cf. SX7760 : Manchester - Penzance express ascending Rattery Bank near Tigley). Headed by Collett 4-6-0s Nos. 7813 'Freshford Manor' and 6824 'Ashley Grange' (1/39-5/65 and 1/37-4/64 respectively), the 07.00 Swindon - Penzance is absolutely crammed to capacity, corridors jammed with humanity: it is already 5½ hours on the road and 71 minutes late. |
