A BRIEF SUMMARY OF EXPERIMENTAL WORKDONE IN THE HYDRIATIC LABORATORYOF THE BATTLE CREEK SANITARIUM. The first experimental work done by the author in the study ofscientific hydrotherapy was begun in the summer of 1875. Duringthe twenty-six years which have since elapsed, experimentalinquiries of various sorts have been carried on almost constantly,and particularly during the last ten or twelve years. Within thelast year an attempt has been made to review the entire field ofphysiological experiments upon which thefundamental principlesof hydrotherapy rest. In this work a large share of the experi-mental work which has been done by others has been repeated, anda considerable number of new experiments have been devised. Inthe following pages the author presents the results of a few of themany hundreds of experiments made in the laboratory under hissupervision. Most of the work has been done under the authorsdirection by one of his able assistants, Dr. Elmer F. Otis,aided by trained nurse
