nt-room, a room for douchesof various sorts, a room for the administration of massage,packs, and fomentations. In addition to these there must bea water-closet, and provision for the administration of enemasand vaginal and rectal douches. Special attention should be given to the ventilation of theapartments. The amount of air required per hour in living-rooms is estimated by Parkes at 3,000 cubic feet. In bath-rooms provision should be made for at least twice this amountof air, because of the great activity of the lungs and skin ofpatients during hydriatic treatment, and also because of thefact that the rooms are to be occupied by diseased persons,in consequence of which the air will become contaminatedmore rapidly than under ordinary circumstances. The maxi-mum number of patients likely to occupy the rooms at anyone time should be estimated, and provision made for 5,000to 6,000 cubic feet of air per hour for each person.
