A reactive Rapid Plasma Reagin (RPR) test for syphilis indicates the presence of antibodies to Treponema pallidum, the bacterium that causes syphilis, in your blood.

Summary[edit]

Description
English: A reactive Rapid Plasma Reagin (RPR) test result suggests that you have been exposed to the syphilis bacterium at some point, either currently or in the past. However, it's important to note that a reactive RPR test alone does not provide information about the stage or activity of the infection. To further assess and manage a syphilis infection, healthcare providers typically perform additional tests and clinical evaluations, including retonemal Tests, Syphilis Staging, Treatment, and Follow-Up, Partner Notification, and Testing.
