n the cab with theexception of the rheostats, which areplaced in the boxes over the leading andtrailing wheels. Our illustration shows that the trolley comotive will again take the place of theelectric one. On the part first to be electrified thereare gradients up to 10 per cent, for veryshort distances. The up gradient on thenorth side from Brigue to the middle ofthe tunnel amounts to about 2 per cent.,while on the south side, from the mid lie Electric Engines.The second of the two elecetric enginesbuilt by the Pennsylvania Railroad at theJuniata shops for experimental purposeshas been sent from Altoona to the EastPittsburgh works of the WestinghouseElectric Company, and there equippedwith electrical appliances. The first lo-comotive has not been put in servicesince being recalled to the shops afterthe first trials, when defects were dis-covered. Both locomotives begin aseries of experiments early this month.Tt is reported that the trials will bemade by using the electric locomotives
