Coat of arms of Zlatna, Alba County, Romania.

Summary[edit]

Description
English: According to annex no. 1, the coat of arms of the town of Zlatna consists of a green triangular shield with rounded edges, cut by a wavy silver band.

At the top is a golden Roman eagle with open wings facing right. The eagle holds in its claws a pedestal with six columns and its body is framed by a golden laurel wreath, open at the top. At the tip of the shield are two crossed gold hammers. The shield is stamped by a silver mural crown with three crenellated towers.

The meanings of the summed elements: The Roman eagle evokes the history of the town, beginning with the Roman period, when its urban development as a mining center was carried out under the coat of arms of this bird. The undulating belt represents the Ampoi River, being the main watercourse that runs through the locality. The green symbolizes the forest wealth of the area, having beech, spruce, oak forests, which alternate with areas of pastures and natural hay. The crossed hammers remind of the role played by this locality as the center of residence of the mining management and the smelters of Apuseni, starting from 1747 until the end of the 19th century.

The mural crown with three crenellated towers signifies the fact that the locality has the status of a town.
